    I have a Balinese alms bowl with an engraved dialog inside. I showed this script a Thai friend who also told me THAT was Lao (but it wasn't) :confused:

    So..... could we conclude that the Thai think any unknown script is Lao?:joyful:

    No, but it could be Thai code for "I haven't a clue!"

    On Java it is rude to tell someone you don't know something, because it would be like denying your request, very offensive. Needless to say this leads to complications, like giving tourists the wrong directions to a museum, etc.
    This Thai thing could be something similar, although the Thai I used to know were pretty clear in what they did or didn't know, want, etc. They were great fun, but would have been considered incredibly rude on Java.;)
