    I think it might be English instead of Japanese etc , but I could be wrong . Lovely little thing .

    It's English/British 19th C, google Egyptian Black and black basalt stoneware teapots and you'll find similar.

    When all along it was a spaniel !

    Nice to know it's antique though, and perhaps not junk !

    I agree on the date and the being English. Not strictly basalt, if I'm being picky. ;)

    Not strictly basalt but so many people call it that as well as Jackfield.
