I also take screen shots with magnifier app Swiss Army Knife on my phone. Still taking votes on the best one. It's jumpy, but you can stabilize it.

It looks like it wants to be marked. Some North African pieces weren't marked at all no matter how hard you look.

I use a real camera and a 40x loupe. It'll work with a phone camera too, but not as easily; my camera has a neck strap and I need one less hand.

 

You shoot through a jeweler's loupe? Actually does sound easier than the phone app - if I had a decent camera!

 

Sure do - it's easier with a rug magnifier but I've used my 40x loupe when need be. The rug magnifier unfolds into its own stand and acts like a fixed focus if you plop it on top of the piece to be magnified. They're used to count knots, but work nicely for reading marks. It's a little harder with the loupe, but not much. Just hold it next to your camera lens and move around until everything in the field is in focus. Or the bit you need anyway.

No, not a mark I know.
They are mostly just random casting flaws, maybe all of them. If you polish the rim you may be able to see more detail on one or two?
But if they look like a dog or bear peaking out of a cave or a sun, they are not silver marks.

Could be. I was thinking the round shape in the second picture could be a Sultan's or Beyic mark. The old Beyic/Sultan's marks and later French marks sometimes appear together on one piece, if it was re-assayed at a later date. A bit of polish could help.

You may use a broken end of a wooden match to brush/clean into the marks, this won't damage the hallmark motif and will make it more distinct

 

I don't have any wooden matches can I use a wood toothpick?

Of course, just use a broken end as it will act as a brush! Wooden toothpicks are my fav tools for my kyratisations

 

Here are a few more I tried to clean out the crevasses but I think I need to do a little more.

 

I don't see anything that is an actual mark. @kyratango has better eyes, maybe she sees something familiar.

 

Not sure now it is actual marks... Maybe just metal dents...
