I’ve acquired this ring. It belonged to my gran and her family and left to me. Any idea what the middle stone may be?? I know the 2 side stones are diamonds and it has 18ct & Plat stamped inside band, no other hallmarks or makers marks. Any advice or info is muchly appreciated! Thankyou x

Good question. A gem tester is the only way to be 100% sure, but .... tourmaline, garnet, ruby... the list goes on. I don't think it's a zircon.

It is a gorgeous ring, the central stone could be a ruby, but it is best to have it tested, as evelyb said. Plat is a mark for platinum, btw.

Lab grown pink ruby/sapphire would be my thought.

yes, I believe they can, although with the high value metals and natural diamonds, I'd expect the center stone to be natural also.........IMO..

It depends on when the ring was made and where, and how many weird bees were buzzing around in a jeweler's bonnet that day. In an odd week it could even be glass.

of course.....it could be anything...but...why bring an 18 K gold & Diamond ring low, with a colored piece of glass ???

All I know is it's been done. I suspect it's a real stone, but if a client wanted that color and the only piece available was glass it's not out of the realm.

I have had 14k jewelry set with glass, OP needs to have this tested by a jeweler or a friend with a gem tester.

Could be a Rhodolite Garnet? Beautiful ring BTW

That was one of my first guesses. The color is right.

The lighting isn't great in the photos, but if talking garnets it looks more like an almandine garnet.
