I picked up this wooden carved box. I'm curious to what it was maybe used for? It has a chinese vibe to it but could be wrong. Thank you for any info!

This reminds me of something, but I can’t remember what. I like it, but I don’t have anything else to add, I’m afraid.

Harrumph. A quick search makes it clear why you’re asking for help. I found several very similar boxes, all identified as completely different things, with little or no corroborating images. :p Altar box? Maybe. Snuff box? I’m skeptical. Jewelry box? Certainly possible. Chinese? Likely. Tibetan? Possible. Clearly we need someone who knows a lot more than I do. Luckily, in this group there are plenty :)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Actually, to me, because I've seen them before and even had one (it was my parents) a LOOOOONG time ago, looks like either a carriage seat, but almost like a modified stagecoach seat... ...but had never seen what was just posted above me!!!!!

I love it ! But Im a sucker for a box.The simplicity of it compared to those other examples makes me think more tourist trinket .But I am often wrong. :)

Looks like the OPs got jumped by attic temps, linseed oil, or both. The vanish is alligatored in places and that's generally a product of heat.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The size would help with guesses!
