Any info on a pair of spectacles

    Google says these are Georgian / 19th century. I looked up the name on the side but couldn't find anything.
    They are small, 4.5 inches side to side and 1 inch high. I think the frame is brass. There is a name on the temple on one side BÖLIAN (at least that's what I think it says)
    and there is a tiny 40 etched into edge of one lens.
    Curious for any input.

    Look pretty typical of 18th and early 19th century spectacles. The arched bridge, the extending temples, and the metal construction are all very typical of that era.

    Things like nose-pads, riding-temples, etc, wouldn't become commonplace until much later.

    If they are made of brass, at one point I imagine they would've been gilded (gold-plated using mercury). Gilt brass was a common way of making spectacle frames, along with sterling silver, gold, and blued steel.
