    No I didn't buy the others; but I was interested in a large ornate carved wood trunk/chest he was asking $150 for. It was still there today so I may offer him 100 Monday

    Given the amount of plundered items from the time of the opium wars till after the Boxer rebellion I would tend to think this was legit ,it shows age, thousands of items were bought ,sold,taken, looking close it does not strike me as recent.

    Thanks! @lizjewel , much appreciated and I know JourneyMag will appreciate that too, I just got home, didn't have time earlier to do more research.
    I realize the condition isn't the best, but this red chair just looks so poorly made to start with.. I really thought it was a lower quality copied indonesian item. Plus they seem to LOVE that red dye on wood, the wood on this chair looks - odd. Perhaps I thought that due to the color? I'm convinced you have a chinese chair now tho! ;)
