    It was a blast to mess with, but even when I was in high school they wouldn't let us touch it. (I did anyway.)

    I have a barometer from there late 1800s that has a tube with mercury that expands and contracts according to air pressure. The dial is connected to it to display the readings. The tube is not sealed, it’s open at the top.
