I purchased this small cabinet at a thrift store and I'm trying to determine how old it is and what it might have been used for. It measures 13" deep, 23" wide and 32" tall. On the top are two oval 2" felt-lined openings that go all the way through. The slanted slots going down the sides are also felt-lined and are 3" deep and 3-1/4" wide. Thanks for any help. Welcome, Adele!
I'd call your piece a cabinet, not a table. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it would have been used for, hopefully someone here can offer help with that.
In future, it's best to put something in the title of your post that states what the item is so those most knowledgeable in that area will take a look.

The space inside the open doors looks like a place for storing records? What are the dimensions there?

I thought a record player cabinet as well. Maybe the slotted sides were for 45's .

More like an office / hotel postal organizer.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Not at 3" deep and 3-1/4" wide............45's are bigger!

Some kind of work station. The lined cubbies are puzzling. Something that went in them needed some protection. You mentioned the oval lined openings. Where do they go? Is there an opening on the back for cords to access?

It would make a great mini bar.

Would it be something to do with a court of law? Looks like a judge could sit in it and store all his papers in the slots. Or a pulpit. Or an auctioneers thingummy

Thanks for the thoughts. There are two small round openings on the back that cords could go through. They line up with the oval openings on top, which go clear through to the bottom; but are not accessible from the bottom.

Makes sense. Obviously some kind of workstation. Slanted cubbies are usually for paperwork that needs to be sorted in and out. These are small, so hard saying what they were for.
