I actually have a bowl this shape so I've been down this road before. My brother lives in Arizona, actually I lived there as a child, so my head goes there. Not sure it's right though, not really my area.

Got the first response back and he did verify that it's Hohokam circa 1200 AD from the Phoenix, AZ region. Followed that with "Nice, not that rare, but a good example of prehistoric pottery". I was shocked by how low the value was estimated to be.

This was from a private party that has been in business and giving lectures on Native North American arts & artifacts for over 45 years.

Still waiting to hear back from the auction house and the museum.

Your grandmother was a classy lady with great taste, and I’m sure a very interesting life. ;)

You are too sweet!!! This is actually for a different relative. My father in law's cousin...so my second cousin-in-law. :wacky: You couldn't be more on the mark though, she lived a life everyone dreams of, but few achieve. Breathtakingly beautiful with a warmth that made everyone around her swoon. It's been so much fun getting to "play" with the things that she brought home and surrounded herself with.

My grandmother still is a classy lady with great taste. ;)

I just heard back from Heritage and they would like to include it in their next American Indian art sale. Looks like our little bowl will be heading to the auction block. :)
