Featured Appropriate Dating of Rocking Chair Please

    The only piece that remains in the family is my cousin's Old Town canoe seat - which is still in good shape after all these years. A canoe seat is probably the easiest first caning project if you can find one.

    Yeah, sees that, not only is the arm broke but the main stile that is attached to the arm is broken as well which means, all of the canings on chair back will be lost in repairing that stile.

    It is a lovely chair, and I always like rockers (whether people or chairs) but it looks like there could be rot where that break is.:eek: If so, you would have to replace part of the construction.:sorry:
    OK, let's move on to colours.:playful::kiss:

    If the decision is "no," then just keep looking. It won't take long before a more acceptable "project" rocker comes into view. No need to paint the inside of the garage just yet.....:)

    Of course, It CAN be restored but, why put 5-6-$700 into a piece that in pristine condition is worth less than $100?
    You can do MUCH BETTER with a project piece at almost any flea market, thrift, etc.
