Area rug assistance

We moved my 93 yr old father-in-law to assisted living and are cleaning out his house in preparation of selling it. For the last 30 years he has had an area rug under his grand piano. The piano is now gone and we need to sell the area rug and want to get him a fair price for it. Any advice would be appreciated. His memory is going but said the rug has always been in the family and he got it from his aunt. It is in excellent condition.

 

eBay is a helpful site for identifying where collector interest lies. Their research tool below gives you three years of Sold sales for Karastan rugs. Keep in mind, there are lots of variables involved including location, size and condition.

You can also search for your rug in Current listings. The pattern #759 appears to be a popular one but keep in mind these are asking, not sold, prices.
