The Met has placed 375,000 of the works in its collection under creative commons. This means that you can use images of the works as you please for any use for free.

Maybe 20 years ago or more I told my husband that someday people would have frames on their wall and they could get a subscription to an art site that would let them have a different painting each month, like TV. A short while ago, my daughter told me that Bill Gates has had that in his house for a long time. It hasn't reached the multitudes, yet, but I'm waiting.

 

I was employed as the 'in house sign and art guy' at the, then, new state of the art Children's hospital in San Diego, California.
One of the things I took care of were art frames in the more serious, long term, children's rooms.
These hinged open so that the art could be changed.
They could have their own put in or those made or given by friends.

 

I'm not sure how to feel about this.
