    Hey folks!

Long time no posts from me. Sorry, I've been good in figuring out most of the stuff myself hehe :)

I got this (is it) chocolate pot and I am sure this is poor quality and blabla, but just in case, maybe this is an older piece. One lovely old man in Sweden was selling all of his collection which because he is moving and he gave me this for 1$, so I had to get it. No mark unfortunately, just the red paint. I would love to know the style and anything about it.

Height approx. 23 cm (9 inches).

Thank you so much in advance!
    Erik

At worst it's hand-decorated. For a dollar, why not? I think it's a coffee pot; IIRC chocolate pots had a spot for a long spoon to stir the chocolate.

Usually, a pot with the spout so close to the top is said to be for chocolate. But frankly you could use it for coffee too.

And as for this one, Japanese from the aesthetic period (1880 plus or minus.)

The red blotch was probably put there by the decorator to cover the mark of the maker of the blank.

It may also be a hot water jug.

Not this time. The spout on a chocolate pot is part of the lip. Coffee, therefore.

However, I am picturing it with a huge, tall handful of those deep orange zinnias.

In the UK, it would be a typical hot water shape. Coffee would have a strainer.

I don't believe this is an antique pot.
