Asian cutwork vase

    I would like to know more about this piece. A friend gave it to me. I believe his father who was in the US Army, 1940s-1960s, gave it to his mother. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks.

    Here is the bottom and the base which is a separate piece. The vase? portion at the top is about 4-5" deep.

    Not sure why they're calling it a vase, since the large hole will preclude holding water. I vote lamp vase.
