I have a battered Chinese teapot my 82 yo mother is heartbroken over. She has held onto it for 60 years after it was broken. Can anyone educate me on its history? Manufacturer? Type? I know nothing about it but know I am trying to get it restored as best it can be. I hope to surprise her with it (best restored condition) on her upcoming birthday. Anyone help with information or point me in the right direction?

Before we get too far into this, you really should edit out your personal information. It's out there in public and not a good idea - spammers and all that!

Do you happen to have a picture from before the beatdown?

    "beatdown"???

I gather from Skip's original post that it was broken at least 60 years ago.

Sorry I should say that I don't know if that's what it is. I realized the similarity in mark and thought that if you compared it to yours in person you might be able to tell if it looked the same.

I know that some Banko pots are birds but other than that I'd have to do some digging to see if I could find any info and there are probably others on the board that will know more.

Yes, you can see the old glue on the inside...

It's pretty. If she really loves it that much, it could be restored - for a price...
