It's indoors I'm hoping. Otherwise I might be diving in the local 'spoons: 'Four Candles'

jokes aside, they are getting pretty damn reliable, even to the extent of " nah..i'll go out at tw0, its sunny then"

a lot more reliable than a little cardboard sun stuck on a map :)

Thanks for the details! That's farther out than I went, I stayed very close to the city centre but maybe next time... :)

Yeah sometimes it's better heading a bit out of town. City centres have a lot of foot fall and as soon as something nice is put out, it's snaffled. The smaller independent charity shops seem to price things a lot more fairly too. Such as hospice shops. That sounds bad doesn't it, but it's true. They tend to be a lot less commercial.

True here too. The smaller shops tend to know their audience and know what it's WORTH is different from what they can sell it for. The bigger shops research everything to the point that it's uncharitable.

20-carat blue diamonds would be OK too. They're nice rocks. Maybe some red beryls in need of a good home.

So I was concerned that the cardboard backing was leaching foxing through to the painting and decided to remove it. I also wanted to add a mount as it doesn't have one. Unfortunately they are glued together, so all I could do is remove the excess around the edges. I was hoping that it was just a line of glue applied around the edge. I thought if I could work through this then I could remove all the material from the centre. It looks like the whole painting is glued to the back board. I have had to abort mission through fear of damaging it.
I've found a mount exactly the right size and it's looking more presentable already. It would be great if I had the expertise to apply a more alkaline solution to the painting to try and neutralise some of the acid but I haven't got the expertise. I will practise one day on a naff painting maybe.

Anyway heres the mounted painting. Just need a suitable frame now.
