Oooh I don't know. I've been looking at eBay for prices. One went for £50. If that's all I'll get Id rather have it on the wall.

same ;) you can always put a really good price on also (relatively). i've done that before, and been very happy with the outcome

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It looks very nice! You would probably have to hire a conservation expert to take the glued pieces apart (or at least to assess whether that is even possible to do safely). It would cost you -- but if you love it, it could be worth it.

Thank you. I contacted a specialist about another piece I have and they quoted me £1800. Bit much for me :hungover:

I could probably remove it myself eventually. It would just take a long time as it is so bitty. There is a very thin laminate of what looks like paper in between the two as if it has been stuck with paper pulp and it has set. That's all I can describe it as. This seems to be stuck to the painting more than the board. I tried applying a few drops of water to the edge of the backing then when I sponged the excess off it turned the tissue brown. So that's not an option. I'm concerned it will stain the work. Only way would be to nibble away at it with a blade.

Anyway, this is the finished project for now. Mount fitted perfectly into a spare frame I have.

They were so patronising too. "Oh your painting is sooooo beautiful. We can see why it you want us to restore it" :depressed:

For that kind of money, I'd expect to recieve a Mona Lisa back instead of a nice souvenir watercolor.:eek::eek::eek:

I'd take the new Redeemer painting too if they wanted to throw it in.

We use Undu for glue removal in framing on pieces, but you'd have to test it because while i have seen it used on original art i can't guarantee anything with watercolor. It evaporates very rapidly though which is why it's used.

It turned out very pretty in it's frame!
