Most officers wore either boots or wool puttees like the EM's. The leather puttees were too impractical for the field and are generally seen stateside, in the UK or well behind the lines. </p><p>However, many veterans purchased them after the war for wear with their uniform in parades as they were easier to deal with than the wrap puttees, which is why so many of them show up in veteran groups.
