Black,Starr & Gorham Bowl..Marked Sterling & 800 ???

    800 is pattern number

    The other number - 800 - is the design or pattern number and has nothing to do with the silver content.

    By the way - the Black, Starr & Gorham name is for the retail outlet on Fifth Ave in New York and not the manufacturer per se. 1940 until about 1960's

    Have the exact same piece - received as wedding present in 1962. Think it is marked Bailey Banks and Biddle (Philly) on the back.
