Hey guys, finally finished my block plane restoration.
It took me about 5 hours of sanding on the sole and the sides, mostly with 100 grit sand paper, and some with 40 grit, then I went with 220 and 320 to make it smoother and some passes on the leather strop to polish a bit.
The blade had some mushing, from setting with a hammer, got rid of that with the file and then sanded the whole blade and polished it.
The palm piece was just sanded with 320 grit sand paper, just to get rid of the rust.
The piece the screws into the palm piece had to be welded, and I painted it black.
The body was cleaned of the rust and old paint, and then I repainted it, not very glad with the paint job.
The wood knob is not the original one, and it's cracked, I would glue it, but I got my glue tube glued to the kitchen bench yesterday, so I need some more glue... I just sanded it and coated it with bes wax and olive oil mix.

Is that a plane or a mirror? :)

No wonder I can't tame my computer! I thought Leonardo was trying to avoid a visitor.
