This came in another auction lot. I first thought it was an inkwell with holes for pens. But it's open in the top and would not hold ink.

Then I thought it must be a candle holder. But what purpose do the holes serve?

I can read Denmark on the bottom but can't read the maker's name.

Anyone know what this is and who made it? Thanks!

You would but the stems of flowers in the holes. It is possible (if opening big enough) that a bulb would be sprouted in the top opening.

I'm thinking something short like crocuses.

There's a town in Denmark named Kollund.

Maybe a combination vase/candleholder: some water in the bottom to keep some flower heads fresh, and a candle for the center.

Definitely agree with it being a type of posy vase. A small spray of flowers in the top and individual flowers in the holes. I don't believe a bulb could be sprouted in the top of yours because the bottom of the bulb wouldn't be able to get close enough to the water.

    A Jersey Pottery example:

You are right about the bulb not getting to the water. Didn't think about that.
