    60s or 70s maybe? Is it even still made? Cheap wine before the rise of the California makers, if I recall. It's a good thing someone already enjoyed the contents. ;) I doubt there is much of a market for the empty bottle, but you never know.

    It is 1982 it says on the bottle, looked to be popular after WW2 but yes I agree don't think anyone is buying it empty, what a shame I'd have popped it open and had a glass tonight hahaha.

    It was the cheapo wine of choice for 80s dinner parties in the UK!
    Doubt there are many of those bottles left around but whether it is collectable or not is anyone’s guess!

    A pleasing commercial Liebfraumilch which was especially popular, along with Mateus, in the 1960s-1980s.

    Late 70's early 80's imported.

    It was really naff.

    I think there were only 3 choices in the supermarket back then, Blue Nun, Hock and Liebfraumilch.

    there were a plethora of German wines that went to England and Ireland - with added sugar to please the taste of the binge drinkers...
    terrible stuff that nobody wanted on the continent.

    It was mainly the Hoorey Henry's that drank wine in those days.
    In these parts if you were seen out drinking wine you stood a good chance of getting beaten up:hilarious::hilarious:.

    Proper wine only caught on when the Yuppies appeared mid 80's and the wine bars started cropping up..

    I beg to disagree ...
    While indeed I was young....and unrefined in my taste.....in 1976....this bottle was my companion on several occasions...while watching Starsky & Hutch , all alone in a big hall with a small tv , in one of the on campus residences at Carleton University.

    I only watched one tv show all week.....and the Blue Nun & I watched it together.

    Blue Nun was my light cheap wine of choice in the '70s (so much better than any Boone's Farm), if drinking cheap beer, Texas-made Pearl was my go-to, since you couldn't get Coors east of the Mississippi until the '80s, and Black Velvet for the hard stuff...
