The one in the thread isn't ivory, one of the pieces doesn't screw on to the centre part, and the cord needs to be replaced. If that isn't a problem... ;)

The truth is I started collecting these well before the ivory ban thinking if I could assemble the whole set I might find the right box. I would then make the fitted insert for all the puzzles but today with the ivory ban here in the UK it has to be less than 10% of the weight of the item for it to not be included, once these full puzzle boxes were going for a fortune, just the 2 burr puzzles were around £800 and the carved little boxes used to fetch around £200, you would always see the odd puzzle on ebay but today you never see them. I don't mind bone, I think one I have is bone. I'm afraid even if I could find all the puzzles and find the right box and make the insert I still wouldn't be able to sell it. I bought the lacquered box they sit in because it's right for the age of the puzzles and maybe if I sold the whole lot together it wouldn't break the rules :) The 2 burr puzzles were one of 2 things I owned that was caught up in the ivory ban and I managed to get both burr puzzles for almost nothing in a lot when the seller didn't know what they were because they were dismantled. Fortunately (apart from one box) all the other antiques I own with ivory have less than 10%, even the box that's solid ivory I can still apply for a licence but these puzzles will never be able to be sold.

If you also don't mind having one in need of a few repairs, then you now know where you can find one :)
