Brass box, Regency? Victorian? Edwardian? Is it for tobacco?

Hello everyone, happy Friday! Just purchased this brass lidded box from an auction house- listed as early 1900s jewelry casket. I'm pretty sure it's not either but would like your opinion on it. I have found similar that describe it as Regency, Victorian and also Edwardian! Is it for tobacco? It measures 5.5"L x 2.5"W x 3.5"H. Thanks for any input!
