    A crank arm fly fishing reel. Hard to put an actuall date year on it - I've seen some like yours dated from 1880's to 1920's but yours looks a bit newer - May be around the 30's. Too bad it was polished - natural patina on Brass reels are more desirable. Hope this will get you started in the direction of finding more info.......

    This one is from around 1900's
