Thanks for the update, @bluumz -- Good information and research. And I missed this thread the first time around.
I wonder if your piece might be electroplated - a base form, covered with a foil type substrate (creating the wrinkled/hammered effect), then electroplated with copper. This might also explain the embedded loops on the bottom, used to suspend the form in the plating solution.
One of the links in my recent info post states that the "Pompeian Bronze Co" pieces are "zinc with a copper coating, produced by the ‘Electroformed’ or ‘Galvano’ process.” Does that sound appropriate?
