I think you nailed it Kard! I took a screen shot of the article and clipped it, if you want to save the file.

Wish there was a way to find out which building this came from.

    I am fascinated by this.;)

Kardinalisimo, what is the size of the one you have?

I'm wondering if (and it may depend on the size/importance of the building constructed) bronze markers like yours were usually placed in the area of the "cornerstone" of the building or if, perhaps, they were placed near the "main entrance door(s)" of a building which qualified for such a "marker."

Kardinalisimo, from my perspective you had a "good eye" to find this item. ;)

    About 8 1/4" long, 2 1/4" wide and 3 3/4" deep.
I cannot find any other example online. Wonder if it is a rare piece?

Did you get this from the same place as the family name plaque in the other thread?

It is numbered 004. I wonder if any of the brick collector sites or museums have records that would identify the building or house this came from...?

I will write for sure to the above emails but there is always something else to do. I'm not selling this dude before I know what I have.

I keep forgetting to update. Well, no update. I wrote to two different emails some time ago and no responses. Either they are no active or is out of their expertise. But still they could have dropped a word or two.
Any other place I could ask for help? Or just list it. Seems like there is so little info on those and no other examples found so far, so maybe noone knows more about them.

Kardinalisimo, I know that your particular bronze marker says "Virginia District" (not sure if that is a district in a large city or perhaps refers to the state of Virginia) but . . . .

I think a place you might want to try is the Museum of the City of New York (New York is the first city in the list of cities in the newspaper article).

Here is the link to that museum's website:

If any city had those bronze markers displayed on homes/buildings I'm guessing it would be New York City.

I have dealt long-distance with the Museum of the City of New York on one occasion and they were very nice and very helpful. ;)

Emailed the MCNY as well as another architectural museum in Virginia, no replies. Listed a week ago with $99 starting price, no interest.
Maybe a bit high but I really thought that it will get some bids. July is dead anyway, will try next month.

Kardinalisimo, I'm glad you posted to keep us up-to-date on the plaque/marker.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you and the plaque/marker. Like you said "July is dead."

Maybe the "right person" is on vacation and when that "right person" returns to work you will hear something.

I still think it is an interesting item, and I can't help but think that people interested in "historical buildings" and the "workmanship" in those buildings will (or should) be interested in helping you with it. ;)

    Thanks.
When I say dead, it is dead as it can be. Anyone doing good sales in July?
