Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I know what you mean, @kyratango although haven't found any examples with this triangular bar.

I think it is basically the same thing, except in KSW's brooch it has become a more prominent design element.

What I meant to add was, I don't see any symbolism in KSW's brooch, just design.:)

Not sure my 2 cents on this is worth even 1 cent, but my gut feeling is that there is some sort of symbolism here: the contrast of the angular with the round; the ornate with the plain. In my experience, this brooch construction, with the closed, slightly domed back, is earlier Victorian era. The way it is framed looks like a button for clothing, which also adds to my impression of something worn to signify an affiliation or a belief, from a time before there were the inexpensive pin back 'buttons' on which we express these sorts of sentiments now.

Jivvy the research is my favorite

I saw "prism" as opposed to "bar"

Which is not particularly useful info. :bucktooth:

This on eBay is on eBay described as Victorian - however obviously that's fairly wide time span! Narrower bar but def triangular ADF6F461-0824-4256-AF15-24875950C3FD.jpeg
