    Good morning good morning

    Really like this, soo murky

Was one of those, oh it's not priced will give matey a ring

Walking round the shop thinking say 20, say 20, bet he says 50

I was sure it was a Johann maresch as that's what it looks like, but the marks are wrong for that

Can't find another like it in German made form

Any thoughts appreciated(luckily he said £10 but there is some damage)

Dunno but the combination of textures is very successful.

Yeah especially the legs, thinking about it I wonder if they are the strikers

Nice piece . I think he dates to early 20th c and agree he’s a match holder and striker.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

At first I thought this said "TRADE GERMANY", but the spelling seems a bit off............? BUT, he sure is CUTE!!!!!!!!!! What's with his leggings???

    Hi Aqui

Yeah there's a very indistinct 'in'

In the middle, so as johns says probably early 20th instead of 19th

I think the leggings as you put them are that way for lighting the matches, textured to get a good strike

I like him. I probably would have bought him and kept him.

Tam was a popular theme in decorative arts. Tableware and Toby mugs for example... here is an early Ridgeway pitcher with the witches' chase. They are still making cheap, knock-off "grandmajolica". I occasionally see them at the thrift stores. tam.jpg
