This guy was cage-bound for 17 years. Even though he is sitting on my hand, this was very early in his rehabilitation and he would not tolerate another hand approaching him.

But I could hold him close to my face and, eventually, skritch him with my nose. This picture was the first time he bowed his head to ask for skritches.

(posting as counter to all the poor birdy pictures, lololol)

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I'm not crazy about them, but Pinterest has a large amount of women with birds, not that any of them remotely resemble what you have.....

But also in trying to enlarge your cameo image, @Bronwen, I'm almost thinking the woman is looking like she might be holding a bird "whistle".....from the way her fingers are posed....especially in her right hand.....but also her left.... I know....you can call me crazy... I realize there's a bird cage in the background.....BUT that COULD also be for effect??? (Artistic License??) Obviously very hard to get a clear image............unless you can get a clearer close-up shot?? Just throwing my 42 cents in!!

The first week I had him, the avian vet said birdie would be lucky to make it to the weekend. Had him (bird, not vet) for five years and he became the most awesome cuddlebug.

I miss most everything about him. Except the noise.

I do not miss the noise. :headphone::joyful:

I can attest that the state of ornithology on cameos is deplorable, as is the knowledge of many people selling them. Can't tell you how many cameos of Hebe & the Eagle I have seen described as Leda & the Swan.

License to kill. This was a very ambitious thing for Schmoll to attempt. We can't rely on it to fairly represent the primary image. For all it may look like it, really do not think she is holding a whistle.

Won't be able to even try any sooner than Monday & still may not do any better. You may have to remind me, if we are still working on this at the start of the week.

I love cockatiels & the parrot family generally, but they are not meant to live alone, so require lots of loving from their humans. I have a yellow crested cockatoo friend at the Zoo.

Exactly. They are so very social. His rehab was long and tedious, but became quite joyful because he became quite joyful.

Even still, in our time together, I came to the conclusion that we humans really shouldn't try to domesticate birds.

I believe your thread is now officially derailed. :bucktooth::p
