door corners 1.png door corners 2.png door corners 3.png I found these in one of my attics. I believe they were just decorations for the top corners of doors. I know they are older. This house is 140 years old so could be any time from 1880 until 1968 when I moved in here. My mother in law lived here before that. Has been in my husbands family all that time. I can tell you two sets are 4" X 4" X 5". The other set is 5" X 5" X 7 1/2". They are magnetic if that helps. I want to sell them but don't know what they are called or what they are worth since I couldn't find any that looked like them. Sorry the pictures are not that great but I think you can make them out ok. Thank You.

They remind me of Mirror/Picture corner fixing brackets.

I'd stand corrected but I'd refer to them as spandrels.
    A quote from Wikipedia:
"A spandrel is a triangular space, usually found in pairs, between the top of an arch and a rectangular frame; between the tops of two adjacent arches or one of the four spaces between a circle within a square. They are frequently filled with decorative elements."

Then I, too, shall refer to them as spandrels! :phantom:

    Thanks you.
My association to them comes from my interest in longcase clocks where you often see brass ones then in the corners of the clock face.

I thought of those at first, but when you said "door top corners" I thought they would be a little different. Strange part is when I go back to my link I cannot find anyone using the word spandrel? Don't they know!? ;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Probably not! If you do a search for metal corner spandrel you will find lots of them who did know the word. Your search request will return items matching your search (and some others, but we won't need to discuss that here). :)
