Can I get some help on this odd doll? TYIA

Hi,
I know nothing about dolls. He looks old but…. He weighs a ton. The cloth body is filled with what feels like gravel (I know it’s not) for lack of better words to describe it better. His shoes appear to be a solid piece of wood. I’m showing a pic of his missing finger in hopes that someone will know what it’s comprised of

Any help with age, maker, or anything else will be appreciated.

Debora-Don't think I've seen 'Easy Shop' before. Number 170 out of 4000-seems like a big edition,yet appears at least frm a distance old & homemade-folk art.

 

I thought it was homemade. His shoes look hand carved

There is a 1998 book on making papier mache dolls. It won't allow me to c/p the link, but it's easy to find by typing "instructions for making papier mache dolls". Perhaps your local library might have a copy you could peruse for a likeness of your doll.

I can offer no other thoughts.
