Featured Can someone date this old toaster

    New here and hi all.. my girlfriend and I went to gladewater tx antiquing this weekend where she bought this for decoration. We were wondering if someone could date it. 20200525_121932_compress41.jpg

    There should be some sort of marks on the bottom.
    My guess is late 20s early 30s.

    Every time I try to date a toaster I get burned

    My mom has several of these which still work. She made toast for me the last time I visited her.

    There are Mark's on bottom. Universal made by landers, frary, Clark. Made in new britian Conn.
    Patent 1914..
    They only ones we have seen close to this have the plate with maker info, model # etc on bottom of toaster. This one that info is stamped on it

    With a 1914 patent date, it could have been manufactured any time after that and before the patent expired, so the 1920s is a good rough estimate. What more information are you looking for?

    When I moved to Boston to go to art school in 1967, my mother was still using one of these. She gave it to me. After a few months of having my friends come over just to see me make toast with it and crack up, I got a real toaster.
