Hello everyone! I won these items amongst others from a few auction houses recently and was hoping you could help me date them. I think Victorian for the brooch and ring but was hoping you could help narrow down if early or later? The brooch is tiny, enamel and seed pearls, marked 9ct. The ring is (I think around 9ct) gold with garnets and pearls- a few of the pearls look a little poorly fixed or replaced with visible glue. The intaglio is amethyst glass - a pendant? watch fob?! The green glass bead necklace is broken but are the beads older?-they don't glow. Thanks all :) 320926243_540753774614497_3569767268859851983_n.jpg 320504388_1307970833392394_4249066361989808355_n.jpg 320524469_672529691249364_5395103438804688031_n.jpg 320328500_604367861690162_4330121463200967167_n.jpg 320067223_717115459839517_2627494812901574456_n.jpg 320458487_616238693635918_3310822041192590097_n.jpg 320632440_678015887376953_3860958063649966079_n.jpg 320565148_556656609644268_446326760797099922_n.jpg 320670642_2419671014876283_1238809392934361546_n.jpg 320545374_872582690758570_8103163509383752201_n.jpg

Ooh, very nice! I love that cobalt blue! Surprised the green beads aren’t glowers as they look like they should. Still interesting and unusual.
I never win anything at auction houses. I had my eye on something today estimated at £40-£60.
    £800……………:jawdrop:

WOW that's a lot of money, what was the item?! Yes I bid on the beads thinking they might glow but still interesting nonetheless! I love buying from auction houses online, factor in the shipping I still do pretty well out of it :)

Actually the estimate was £50 -£80. I knew they would top £150 but still!

The OP's pieces.... The cameo looks like it was on a Florenza necklace originally. I'd guess 1880s on the pin. The ring looks like pearl and garnet. The cased glass beads look like they're Italian; I bet @Ownedbybear recognizes them.

I bet that's why it went as high as it did. Some nice stuff showing and everybody was hoping for what wasn't showing. Sapphiret is a magic word even now.

Brooch is mid to late 19th.Lovely. Ring is way more modern, I'd think post war. I'd certainly think Italian on those nice beads.

I'm staring at that lot and not seeing saphiret. Sappharine, maybe. Plus yes, some satin but also moonglow.

Yea, I thought the same thing, no saphiret there, nice lot though :)

I saw things that would be called sapphiret by those who didn't know, or who knew their audience wouldn't know. No Victorian glass, all post-War.

    Love your new 'stuff', Elen.:)
I would place it earlier, early 19th century. In UK terms late Georgian.
The combination of that rectangular shape, what looks like a slightly rounded back and the type of vivid blue enamel on a textured silver background are typical of the period imo.
I wonder if the pearls were replaced at some stage in its life.
    It is absolutely gorgeous.

Good point on the enamel and cushion back. Those pearls do look very white.

On that auction lot, I foresee happy seller, less happy buyer. The duettes are nice, and slightly unusual, but I don't see eight hundred quid plus commission.

£150 would be a bit high for me, but I'm a cheapskate!

Yeah well. People hear sapphiret and lose their minds.
