    Hi All,

I recently purchased this wooden model sailing ship but it has no identification marking of any kind. It does have a 13 star U.S. flag and it has 10 cannon. The American Revolutionary War happened between the following period 1777 to 1795 , which was the period when this flag was in use according to our research. Please feel free to correct any of this info if we have it wrong!! It is a beautiful model and as you can hopefully see a reasonable size. Any help with its identification will be gratefully received.....regards Steve

    Welcome!
    RW was 1775-83.
I think she is the USS Hornet #1. :)
    ...or #2 <scratch that one.

Hi, Sorry I posted the pictures into the Militaria folder, you should be able to see them. If you are right that would be a fantastic result!!

My experience is that we generally want the photos right here in the post and enlarged. This is how I've found it best to do that step-by-step>>>
    ~

    Make your photos 480x640.

    ~

After your comments are complete drop down a line.

    ~

    Put a squiggle > ~

    ~

    Drop down a line.

    ~

Load all your photos, 10 max.

    ~

At the top of your photo pile there's now an option to enlarge them all.

    ~

    Enlarge them.

    ~

    Thank you!

    You are welcome!
You were loading them as I was adding the info. :)

Note I changed my opinion. She is likely USS Hornet #1.
The last one, of many, is in Alameda, CA as a museum. I've been on a few carriers but not her. Someday. :)

Are you going to part with her?

Yes, that is my intention, she is a very beautiful model, whom ever built her did a very good job.

    I see.
Odd she is there of all places.... ;)
Can her masts be easily removed to make her more compact?
