Cannonball? & Artillery Shell?

Greetings, everyone:

Posting these for a friend, whom I think may have put on a military site for identification. He found them protruding out of the gravel/sand at a local shooting range. I believe he said other members found a few dozen pieces like the aerodynamic one, which I didn't weigh but seemed to be a few lbs.

I thought maybe the spherical object is a cannonball, but it's pretty light (I'm guessing a pound or less), as if hollow, and I think average cannonballs are 12 lbs and the lightest ones about 4.

I didn't see any marks.

Does anyone recognize them?
