Carved thing with bears and walrus

    Didn't know what else to call it.
    This interesting thing is 5" long by 2 1/2" tall
    Appears to be to be carved from a single piece of something?
    Or could be ceramic. The drawings are etched into it and I'm not sure about the black.
    Any input would be appreciated

    Usually these scrimshaw things are some sort of composition or plastic. Maybe yours is bone or horn or tusk but I have my doubts.

    If it is any help for future buys, those lines on a 'bone' or 'ivory' base are a sign of resin. It is a nice piece though, quality faux.:)
