    Cocobolo - and it needs a little danish oil to bring out the finish.

    I'm guessing from India, my parents brought back carvings that looked like that kind of wood; one was a duck. Not sure what they called the wood, but it was quite hard, and pretty common in India.
    I don't recall it being as fancy as cocobolo; ironwood, seri, something like that.
