Featured Carved wooden photo album

I just picked this up. Not looking for a sell value, but it was a little costly. The pics are from a few different states and photographers. I will send more pics later. It’s a little rough condition. I think it’s very nice looking. Opinions wecolmed.

 

Dunno about the album but photo subject certainly a tall drink of water.

Very cool album cover! How are the photos attached to the pages? Or are they inserted into an opening in the page?

Nicely decorated page! Too bad somebody tore the bottom of the inserted area. Maybe they did that to show who the photographer was? I have a couple of albums like this where the cover is made of celluloid. It's extremely hard to avoid damaging the photo insert area if you try to take the photos out.

I'm thinking that the word "Album" may be a separate piece attached to the wood, rather than the whole thing being carved from a single piece of wood.
As one who's done some wood-carving, I can't imagine the headache - or near impossibility - of doing the carving from a block of wood and then getting the included areas in the word "Album" to be uniform in smoothness and gloss.
It would be more common to finish the base piece and then attach a title made from a cast or pressed composition.
It is very pretty in any case.

 

This is this first photo. All condition issues aside, I like the cover. I haven’t seen one like it, but didn’t have a chance to look yet. I’ll look at the word album, I suspect it is separate.

Kind of you to say. I’m evaluating my options on what to do with this. I really only have 2. Keep it, or try to find the family it came from and reunite them, if the family is interested.

More than likely the family wouldn’t care otherwise it wouldn’t be at a thrift. (I’m just trying to legitimize an unwise purchase) ohhh well.

No I agree, sometimes there’s someone unaware it even existed. I’ll think on it. I didn’t think through before I bought it anyway, since I really don’t sell things anyway, I don’t know what I thought to do with it anyway.
