It is very hard to know what to do with personal family mementos for which you have no room. I am trying to decide what to do with those I inherited. Among these are clothing from various family members, album of very old photos (family by marriage, only a few identified), and a scrapebook of baby announcements, shower cards, and sympathy cards for a cousin who died at birth. (Her parents had no other children.) (That last hit me hard.) I can offer them to other cousins, but they also are trying to figure out what to do with their own & inherited belongings. I plan to ask a town historical society if they would like some (particularly the old photo album). I have read somewhere that theatre groups sometimes accept vintage clothing for costuming period plays, but do not think most would be appropriate for that purpose (uncle's christening robe, dress of an aunt who died c.1920s at very young age). I cannot imagine throwing them out, but have no idea what to do with them. Just keep them until the next generation--who has no sentimental attachment--discards or donates? Any ideas?

Somebody will want the photos. A local historical society, as mentioned, would be all over them. Or the library. Clothing is an easy seller in this area, or easy to pass along. If you want to just give it away, FB has Buy Nothing groups in a lot of areas and somebody would be all over it, if for resale. It would at least keep it out of the dump. You're right about baby gear being hard to move though, mostly because most people wanting baby clothes want them for a live baby. I can see someone wanting the baby album, maybe a reseller, but a reseller would get it to a buyer who would treasure it.

Oh my, I'm drooling!! I've been a vintage clothing collector and dealer since 1999. Any chance you are in the USA?
