    Saw this today but was not sure if it is worth buying because it does not look very old to me.
    Any thoughts

    Certainly Celtic runes. It's a repro of something that is niggling in my head. Sarcophagus or treasure box in the British Museum, I think. No older than the last three decades.

    I think the Celts never used runes. Runes are a Germanic thing, so maybe it is meant to be Anglo-Saxon or more likely Viking...

    Google on Ogham.

    As to "Celtic" runes, they're used on tombs and such in Northern Scotland. Imported, yes, but used by locals.

    If you like it and want to have it hanging around, buy it. Otherwise, these kinds of replicas don't go for much.
