They have sand or rice or something inside them so they make noise when you shake them. You can&#039;t get to the rice, sand or whatever it is you can only hear it. Kind of like a rattle but of course they are ceramic and I can&#039;t imagine giving it to a kid to shake. It just seems like a bad design idea all the way around.
