No, but opened the door wide with things like 'Minton mermaid'.

Good news. Seller replied & says finish is matte, so we're back to the more fruitful jasper war, bisque, stone ware universe.

She thinks the green is over the white; I think she's wrong & may get back to me with a different opinion.

Says it's a little blue in color, but still calls it green. And there are little gaps at the edges? Does this mean hand built?

    Tried Limoges?

    I think that's a firing crack.

It's very straight & old from the look of it in pix. It doesn't bother me. Thanks for explaining what could account for it when the piece looks otherwise intact.

Ah, now I understand how replies get incorporated into the quote.

Yes, tried 'Limoges' first thing when decided it might be French.

I did try Minton, Copeland Limoges plaque + mermaids/neptune :(

Not my lane, but I gave it a shot...

This is Prosper Jouneau again. Plate does not have this kind of delicacy, more sculpture than painting.

Thank you for the correction. It was late last night. Seems I'm mixing things up more often.
So glad we have such a good group to keep us on our toes.
    Much appreciated.

And another that has mark to confirm Volkstedt. Irregular edges seem to be a signature feature for them.

That Wedgwood. (They can't SPELL!) I'm dubious - that's pate sur pate again.

The Volkstedt blue is an interesting mix of added sprigs, for want of a better word to describe those legs, with slip decoration. (It still isn't jasperware unless it's Wedgwood. ;) )

I'm going to have to look up all these terms (pate sur pate, Jasperware, etc.) to refresh myself on the differences. I'm afraid I'm one of those sellers lumping everything together. I am not, however, one of those sellers who list anything jasperware(ish) that's not Wedgwood as S&V.

For what's it's worth I would guess the plaques are Volkstedt. The subject matter is a bit adventurous for S&V. Most S&V plaques seem to show more romantic Victorian images (cherubs, children, couples, etc.). The plaques in question here are almost turbulent leaning towards the mythological. Also the border designs tend to be a bit heavier on the S&V items. I'm a fan of the plaques above BTW.
