So, my great grandfather had this unique ceramic donkey that says Bay Rum....no real markings. Definately image2.jpeg image1.jpeg old. Anyone have any thoughts? Trying to get some information.

Where does it say "Bay Rum"? Can you post a picture of the bottom side of the base? All I can find is that Bay Rum was an aftershave/lotion created during Prohibition. May be a promotional item from that company/brand. See:

It says bar rum on the edge of the base, you can barely see it in the photo. I'll try to post some more. That is so much!!!!

Aha - zooming in I can see the "BAY RUM" now. A pic of the base might still be helpful.

I wonder if it's perhaps a souvenir of St John's (or similar) in the Virgin Islands: known for both bay rum AND donkeys...

It is actually a horse, a nag to be exact I believe. I used to have one painted brown. there is a specific name for them. Let me stew a bit on it and see if I can remember.

Well "old nag" is the best I can do right now. Seems to have been a popular theme for souvenirs at one time. There were slightly different variations. Mine was actually a plaster material. I love everything horse and my husband bought it to torment me. A few show in this Yahoo search. https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=A0LEVvGFg0BaaU8ADB4nnIlQ?p=old+bony+nag+souvenir&fr=yhs-mozilla-001&fr2=piv-web&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001#id=1&iurl=https://img1.etsystatic.com/025/0/7018617/il_340x270.509730105_e4a7.jpg&action=close

The unmarked ones do not sell for much nor very fast.
