Featured chinese charging horses stone carving

Hi folks, something i found in oxfam yesterday for £6

im quite impressed and happy with it

get the feeling that it hasnt got much age though

but presumed its worth that much as a decorative item

not 100% sure what stone it is, guessing maybe Agate ?

any help or thoughts very much appreciated

It is jade, possibly Hetian/Khotan jade, carved from a jade river pebble which ranges naturally from white to celadon to russet. It is worth quite a bit.
The galloping horses are a centuries old Chinese theme.

Going into town to find my smoking jacket, kind of worked out better in the end ! !

 

Pity about the jacket, but this is worth much more.

 

Hard to judge an age I would think, are things like this still being made ?

 

These are jade pebbles as they are found in the rivers of the Hetian/Khotan region. Imo your horses are carved from such a pebble:

 

Yes, they are, and jade is notoriously difficult to date.
The name Hetian is a magic name when it comes to jade though, that alone should attract buyers.

Very pretty! I had to look up oxfam. They have an online store; I wonder if they ship internationally? I'm gonna go down a rabbit hole and see!

edit: I thought they didn't ship internationally, but it appears they do! Yay! Time to peruse their online shop.

Thanks OBB! Their shipping isn't unreasonable. I picked two items and just went through the checkout to see how much it would be - didn't actually purchase them as it wouldn't be worth it just for 2 items.
