Chinese? Happy seated Buddha with stamp to base

I purchased this from a second hand store.

I think it has some age and it has a stamp to the base. I presumed Chinese?
I have had a good look online and found nothing similar.

Any help on age/use / origin is much appreciated. Thank you

Yes, it is Hotei or Budai. Hotei was a monk who loved the good life, he is not the Buddha.
The Buddha was ascetic, and is never depicted as a fat person.

 

IIRC. it is said that if you rub his belly it will bring you good luck.

 

I have an ivory one.....but haven't given him a belly rub in a while...
maybe it's time !

If anyone can identify mark to base being Chinese or Japanese? also age?

Perhaps if you can darken the mark a bit with coloured chalk or something similar, we may be able to see it better perhaps?

 

I don't know the mark, but it is bound to be from Shiwan, China, and late 20th century. It is the Shiwan style.
