Not really my thing but at £2 I wasn’t going to look a gift horse.
This looks a bit 70s to me but WDIK.
Is it possible to learn anything from this by the cord/ stringing - Are the braided bits on the knots unusual?
I see agate, carnelian and blood stone, any idea on the green?
The beads are quite large at mostly 3/4 - 1” in size and it’s long, 24” doubled over, 48” end to end if there was a clasp……I probably didn’t need to do that maths for you did I :bag:
    Thanks for looking :)

From the closeup pic, the green bead looks like it could be green aventurine. That or chrysoprase. The beads are all forms of quartz, just different colors & degrees of opacity. The translucent type is called chalcedony; if it's opaque it is lumped into the catchall term jasper unless it has its own name, such as bloodstone. Agate is not a type of mineral, it's what we call some formations chalcedony.

Think you are right about the 70s.

The knots are very strange, to me at least. The underlying knots look ordinary; it's that dark cord that has been threaded through that is weird. Slapdash, looks added later by someone with too much time on their hands.

1970s to 1984 or so if I remember right. That's when I remember them being worn anyway. I always called the stones Random Pretty Rock - all agate and jasper beads of no particular distinction.

Aha. I've seen those knots on that turquoise and silver chip jewellery. The Indian stuff, so aj makes sense as ever.
