    Was wondering if anyone might have any idea what culture this clay statue is from. I tried an image search and came up with some similar, but nothing that matched it, especially with the eyes being covered.

    Looks like a fantasy piece but as to what culture inspired it... Dunno.

    Yes, I thought it was different too. Wondering if it might be someone's take on See No Evil?

    I guess that's possible ..!

    or...maybe a forest sprite who's crying at the sight of all the clear cut logging...?

    it's a toss up...:playful::playful::playful:...;)

    Ok don't laugh too hard, but I can see the 'belly' has the vague design impression of Egyptian teats. Josh, it would be good to give us more than one small picture and some close ups! :)

    Not a culture I recognize, other than a ceramics student's experiment. Is it really that gray color?

    Yes it is that color. So I guess the general consensus is just some fantasy piece. Still kind of different.

    Cool-It looks likes a cross between a folk art jug and pagan (with a sprinkle of HP Lovecraft). Very nice naif (naive ?) piece-any signatures or marks ? It does look like a 'Green Man' or earth spirit in mourning or terror-don't know what the circles or 'Egyptian teats' symbolize.

    I thought green man too. There’s also a green woman and green man’s mother. Could be one of them. I have a cool plaque of green man’s mother giving birth. I believe that’s what it’s supposed to be at least. It’s in a drawer and has been since I got it.
