Closet find strange looking knife

    Found this in a closet, probably leftovers from previous apartment owner.
    Could someone tell me how old this thing is and where it came from.

    Common from the 1960s on until people got antsy about large knives on planes

    Looks like a made for tourist kukri knife.

    I'll add that souvenir kukris were often made with rather poor-quality steel, which corrodes much faster than one might expect. A knife only a few years old might show rust that appears to be 25-50 years old.
    Last I checked there were still mail-order companies importing kukris like this, so age might be anywhere from 1960s to nearly new.
